AEI Energy Map - Unite Students UK
A Comprehensive and Interactive Visualization for Exploring Monthly and Real-Time Utility and Water Use in the Unite Students UK Portfolio
AEI used sample data provided by Unite Students UK to construct this interactive AEI Energy Map™ visualization as part of our response to an RFP. We combined the provided utility bills with a simulation of real-time main meter electricity usage and interval data that is used to profile each building in the portfolio.
Unite Students operates student housing in over 150 locations throughout England and Scotland with a combined floor space in excess of 1.3 million m2 and an estimated electricity consumption in excess of 18,000 MWh/year.
Our response to the RFP incorporated real-time utility meter interval data to shed light on peak demands in real-time. When integrated with our AEI Soft Start analytics, we can correlate the buildings' use of electricity with conditions on the UK National Grid and help building operators avoid high demand charges associated with coincident electricity usage. The UK peak season is during the winter which also tends to coincide with higher seasonal occupancy in this portfolio.
NOTE: This visualization is data mash-up for demonstration purposes only. You should not infer any conclusions from any of the numbers presented. The values are driven by several real-time meters currently in operation, but the values on the visualization have been anonymized and heavily transformed.
In 2017 AEI was awarded funding for a pilot program to install its AEI Soft Start RT real-time metering solution at up to 10 facilities as a proof of concept.
