AEI Energy Map - Judicial Courts of California
A Comprehensive and Interactive Visualization for Exploring Monthly Utility and Water Use in the California Courts
AEI used sample data provided by Judicial Council of California to construct this interactive AEI Energy Map™ visualization. We combined the provided utility bills with a simulation of real-time main meter electricity usage and interval data that is used to profile each building in the portfolio.
Adding in utility meter interval data sheds light on peak demands, weather normalization and occupancy profiling. Even with just this limited and readily-available data, we can begin to understand how buildings are performing; How they perform over time, how they compare to each other in a portfolio, and how well they compare to national reference data from DOE.
With integrated real-time main meter data, we can correlate the buildings' use of electricity with conditions on the CA-ISO grid and help building operators avoid high demand charges associated with coincident electricity usage.
NOTE: This visualization is data mash-up for demonstration purposes only. You should not infer any conclusions from any of the numbers presented. The values are driven by several real-time meters currently in operation, but the values on the visualization have been anonymized and heavily transformed.
